How to Whiten your Yellow Teeth at Home in Minutes Without Lemon, Baking Soda or Peroxide
How to Whiten Yellow Teeth at Home in Minutes Without Lemon, Baking Soda or Peroxide. Have you ever wondered how to get rid of your stained teeth? Nothing hampers confidence more than unimpressive teeth. Yellow teeth aren’t shiny or attractive and can make you think twice before laughing out loud or smiling. It seriously dents self-confidence, communication with friends and socialising.

But to put things into perspective, yellow teeth is not a sign of dental weakness or any serious issues. It is merely a cosmetic problem and before you decide to do anything about it, you must ask yourself whether you really need to go the distance to carry out these measures, some of which are expensive and could cause your teeth more serious and long lasting damage.

What Yellow Teeth Actually Are
Some people have yellow teeth because it is their natural tooth colour. This is different from stained teeth where certain teeth appear more yellowish than the others. Stained yellow teeth can be caused by fluoride content in drinking water, smoking, excessive consumption of beverages such as tea, coffee or fizzy drinks as well as certain medical conditions. Children prescribed with the antibiotic Tetracycline can also develop stained teeth.

Steps You Can Take
Brushing regularly is the simplest step to achieving whiter stain-free teeth. But you should brush your teeth more than twice a day. Since teeth get more yellow due to the consumption of drinks that stain them, ideally one should brush within an hour of consuming anything that causes stain, such as tea, coffee or soda – a highly impractical solution. Cleaning the teeth also includes flossing and rinsing. Mouthwash can bring about good results provided your teeth are only mildly stained.

Reduce the intake of fizzy drinks, or at least use a straw to drink it rather than let it circulate in your mouth longer when it comes into frequent contact with the teeth.

Whitening strips can help too. You only need to place these on your teeth once or twice a day. The strips contain the whitening agent and the resultant colour change can last for a year.

Home Remedies
Other remedies to try at home include rinsing the mouth with a solution involving water and vinegar, and brushing your teeth with salt or baking soda or mixing both with water. Too much of salt can weaken the tooth enamel and also cause mouth pain.

Rubbing your teeth with the white portion of an orange peel and brushing with strawberry are other home remedies commonly mentioned.

Specialised Teeth Whitening Treatment
More specialised remedies for whitening yellow teeth include dental veneers and blu-light technology. Both are expensive procedures and the former involves placing thin porcelain layers on the teeth. Blu-light technology also needs to be administered professionally and consists of procedures combining blu-light and hydrogen peroxide. The effects are said to last for quite a few years and the side effects are relatively low.
